A Change of Heart

A Change of Heart

I would like to share a few things that Lord spoke to me about from Psalm 34:1 – 6.

I found this Psalm revealing the great change of heart that the Lord formed within David following his defeated spirit at Nob and his display before King Achish (I Sam 21).  Not only were David’s faith and testimony renewed, but he also was now able to encourage those who came to rally behind him (I Sam 22:1 – 3).  Although he was still being sought after and his situation looked dire, his spiritual renewal was a testimony to help others in the right ways of the Lord.

To the frail, anxious, afraid and broken in spirit, David proclaims with gladness, “O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.” (v. 3)  David boasted in the Lord (v. 1 – 2).  He found out that trusting in the flesh will result in failure, but that when we humble ourselves and hear about the glory and might of God and put our trust in Him, He will never disappoint us (v. 2).

I will bless the Lord at all times” (v. 1) – this is a great encouragement, as it shows how faithful our God is, no matter what we may be going through or called upon to endure.  We need to remember this Psalm was written not when David was on the throne, but, rather, when he was being hunted for his life and was just trying to survive.  David, as we need to, came to the Lord in his time of need, and God rewarded him greatly for his faith (v. 4 – 6).  May we learn from this example and remember that God will always answer the prayer of the faithful.  Verse 6 is such a great verse – “out of all his troubles”, this shows the Lord’s heart and what He does for the faithful.
